We're just about ready to go. Most of our packing is done. Our Tracking unit is registered. Batteries in our equipment are charged. Food is prepared, and cooking gear assembled. Emergency kits are prepared for both human and machine. Kayaks are kitted out. We have - at last - worked out how to pack the crab nets. Iceboxes have their places worked out.
So, what is the deal?
Tomorrow morning, at about 6am we head down to Pinjarra, where we meet two friends who will accompany us for the first few days. At about 9 - 9:30AM we hit the water, and make our way down to Ravenswood - some 16km.
Saturday morning, we set out from Ravenswood, and head down to Tathams Caravan park, about 10km away.
Sunday, we spend mucking about around the mouth of the Murray, and taking it easy.
Monday, winds permitting, we make our way across the Peel Inlet, to the Mandurah Quay Resort. 13km of open water with nowhere to stop. Eeek! If the weather is awful, we call for an emergency pickup, which, whilst disappointing, is responsible.
Tuesday will be a rest day, with possible visits to the islands at the head of the Sticks Channel (especially if Monday has been a wash).
