Picked this up from comp.risks ... http://lists.csl.sri.com/mailman/listinfo/risks

1/ Visit http://mappoint.msn.com/DirectionsFind.aspx
2/ Select Norway for the country  for both start and end
3/ Start from Haugesund, and end in Trondheim
4/ Click "Get Directions"

And enjoy the attached.

Now, try reversing the journey

Heh! You dont need to go to Norway to get that effect. Just have a go with our very own Transperth route planner at http://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/DesktopDefault.aspx. Recently it has suggested that I:

  • Walk nearly six kilometers to Leederville.
  • Go to Applecross via Fremantle rather than Perth ( about 3 times the distance ).
  • Go to East Perth Terminal by catching the 98 to Bayswater and taking the train back (must be 4 to 5 times the distance of the direct via Perth route).

Oh well.

I've had some interesting advice from the Transperth route planner imp, one of which included walking from Como to Wellington Street.

Planning journeys in the UK was interesting - Mapquest, I think it was, gave me directions from a point  in the north of England to a point in the middle of Scotland that would have taken 9 hours had I gone south first down to Manchester as they suggested.
