If you are a board gamer and hangout on Boardgamegeek, you might be interested in this.
There is a list currently running - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/74857/item/1934883#item1934883 which is full of people wanting to give stuff - games - board, video and P&P, geekgold, avatars etc to people on BGG who are supporting the site for its 2011 fund drive. There's a lot of generosity going on, and it's all very aweing. Many of the donors are offering world wide shipping as well.
There's a lot of stuff being given away. What you do is you donate to the site to get your 2011 supporter's badge, and then you 'thumb' the item that you are interested in going into the draw for.
That's my public service announcement for this post.
In other news, it's been busy.
Friday we played Cargo Noir in the absence of a couple of the gamers, one of whom turned up later and then was included in the Noiring. I thoroughly enjoy this game - it was a freebie from Days of Wonder as part of their Christmas cheer, you order $50 worth, and they sent you this game for free, heck I would have bought it, it's a good game.
Saturday was the huge W A Boardgame Association meeting, from 9am to 11pm. We popped there via the Gingerbread People shop which was along the way - they have a lot of GF stuff - delicious!
I pretty much describe the gaming here - this is apparently going to be my entry of geeklists.... http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/86011/games-played-at-decembacon-2011 - and also worthy of mention during the day was I won a copy of Black Gold, which looks interesting, and the cafe there also has the ability to deal well with GF requests. Great! And the eclipse gave us a good show too.
The next morning we rocked up to King's Park for the Swancon programming meeting bbq, with Disc Golf stuff in tow, set it up, played and socialised and played Quiddler for the first time. Ate a lovely bbq too! It was a pity it was such a humid day, it contributed to our exhaustion.
So around to Monday, and it was a case of staggering around a bit and letting the day defeat us - very tired. And there was an exceptional thunderstorm.
Yesterday was overcast, and cooler too, and we'd slept a bit better too, so my day was a bit more productive. I went into town in the afternoon and bought a copy of Fortune and Glory, a lavish Indiana Jonesish adventure game from Flying Frog, the people who brought you Last Night On Earth the zombie game and Invasion from Outer Space, the Martian Game. It looks very cool, and I look very much forward to playing it.
Then Rob met me at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow and we had dinner and then went across to Myriade to meet the NZland chap who's across for a conference and was asking if anyone was able to game with him, over at the WABA forums here. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/view/308
And that's about it really, still playing Glitch too, there is a Perth Fandom Glitch group, by the way. I am Snorriruff there.
Today I shall be drawing, back to the Magnum Opus which is trundling along. It's not going to be finished this year. Maybe next.
