Rob and I saw these large gulls at Hillaries, perched with some pied cormorants in a boat bay. (only accessible by boat).

I think they're Pacific Gulls, I haven't looked in the field guides yet.

Even though the photo is blurred, I'm reasonably sure that they are Pacific Gulls. The beaks are pretty big, and the markings on the back don't seem to be Herring Gulls, referrring to Morcombe & P&K.

Most certainly Pacific Gulls.

I'm not even sure if Herring Gulls have ever been seen in Australia.  Over west it's just the Silver and Pacific Gull and the odd vagrant small black-headed gull (Sabine's, Franklin's, Black-headed).
