Over the past years I've heard magpies at night, well after 10:00pm carolling away to the sky, and other people have commented too. How about you? Have you heard them? Is it a widespread phenomena? (do doooo do dit do)

Later on I may put up another survey, to find out when this happens and whether it occurs in some places more than others.

But for now, please take a minute to fill in the survey. Thank you very much.

I hear them carolling away, oh about two or three hundred metres away. Nice to hear.

Haven't heard anything after dark, and I don't even know the species, but I swear I have heard some local birds in Canberra carolling the ABC news theme.

Honest.

Freaked me out the first couple of times...

This is an Australian Magpie, of the western race, JCS, but choosing the "what's an Australian Magpie?" option would be just as valid.

This bird was hoping to share our lunch at Cooper's Mill last week.

Dad has been adopted by a family of magpies.  He was hanging the washing out the other day, looked down, and saw one sitting at his feet, staring up expectantly at him.
