Hey all, long time no proverbial.
I recently acquired a folding bicycle and I've started having fun with it on the bike paths. I'm collecting images over on Facebook, but anyone should be able to view:

I've attached an image of the bike itself.
I'm hoping to use it as exercise and to participate in various cycle activities in the metro area. |

Ok! I'm stumped!
What is it, and where can you get it? Do we get a mini-review?
(expectant look)
It looks very cool. The only thing I've been able to google that is similar, at all, is the a-bike from uncle Clive (ie Clive Sinclair - he of the ZX-80).

It's a "JDbike" and I got it here:
http://www.dailydeals.com.au/jdbike-foldable-bike-p-11425.html
It's by the same company that did the original folding scooters that started popping up about a decade ago.
Mini-review: It rocks. It folds up small enough to be tossed into the back of a car (though it might be a squeeze in the Mighty Boy). It weighs 10kg and has a capacity of 90kg (which I've been overloading by about 5). Only quirk that matters; Brakes are on "backwards", which I haven't decided what to do about yet.
I swapped the seat out for a padded/sprung one I bought for my dead electric scooter and I've bought a couple of bags for it; One at a local shop that goes under the back of the seat and a triangular one from eBay that hasn't arrived yet:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300213608427
And a heart-rate monitor with a bike mount from:
http://www.zazz.com.au/pastproducts.php?past=818
I'll take a new photo once it's kitted out.
Oo! That's my "get ready or you'll be late" alarm. Gotta go. |

Okay, I'm settled in a work so I can add some other stuff.
It's got fixed gears, but the ratio is pretty much perfect. Great for pottering along, not bad for going up mild hills. You can't stand up on it though, so when you come to a steep hill, expect to get off.
You don't want to try and jump up or drop down curbs. Small wheels mean big bumps, and you sink into grass. This is strictly an urban vehicle designed for smooth bike paths and quiet back streets. Which is exactly how I want to use it.
The way the brake cables are set up means that you can't really install a bag on the handlebars. At least, not a normal one.
It takes maybe 30 minutes to assemble and pump the tires from when you first unpack it. After that, folding and unfolding takes about 10 seconds.
If you have any questions, post below and I'll try to answer them. |

My heart rate monitor with bike mount is waiting for me at home, and I've got both storage bags for the bike, so this evening when I get home I'm going to take some pics of the bike all kitted out.
I found an interesting thing when I was out on the bike on Saturday; Public exercise equipment:

I'm intending to map (and use) any such equipment I find along the bike paths. There are four stations just along the South Perth and Burswood foreshore.
And there's a sneak-peek at my bike with the bags fitted. |

Well, the heart rate monitor arrived today and it doesn't match the description on the website I bought it from. It doesn't have even half the features claimed and it doesn't have a bike mount. So for the moment, you'll have to make do with the shot of the bike in the photo above. |
