This morning Rob and I set out to ride to Rob's work, well me to ride part of the way to his work, I turn back once we hit Perth. There was a bit of traffic on Scarborough Beach Road and some rubbish trucks along liege, but all in all it was pretty okay, all the drivers were polite and there were no crowding issues, even from the number 400 bus.
It was a beautiful morning, no wind, both Lake Monger and Herdsman were still and glassy, they only were disturbed by some extremely diligent Yellow Billed Spoonbills back and forthing back and forthing.
It was pretty darn cold, and as we hit Perth the sun came up and warmed things up a little. I decided to check out what Steveg said about the detour for the North of Hutton freeway bikepath detour, indeed, as he mentioned, if you stay on the road and don't rejoin the bike path indeed, you end up on the road that goes by the pedestrian footbridge that goes over to Osborne Park. Very handy!
I saw another recumbent just near the Stirling City Council building, a red greenspeed like arcadiagt5's and there were lots of commuter bikes by this stage, many of them. By this stage I was on the Cedric St bike path on the northern side, coming up to Odin.
Then there was this godsawful beeping and I looked across. I'm travelling west, I'm on the bike path, and this car, two lanes over travelling west is beeping. This late middle aged guy, unshaven and puffy around the face - alcohol I guess might do it is giving me a two finger salute and is looking really enraged. It's an older car, a brown/maroon sedan - very boxy, perhaps an old Rover?
So I'm basically puzzled as to why I should have copped the abuse. I wasn't anywhere near him. I wasn't even on the road!
Apart from that one puzzling encounter, I've had a lovely ride. It's the first negative experience I've had from other road users, and it's pretty minor.
